Sweetwater County School District #1 (SCSD#1) is looking to fill a full-time, 12-month mechanic position

to be part of a great team of professionals.

SCSD#1 is looking for the following qualifications, however, further training will be provided:

- Mechanic experience

- Basic knowledge of diesel engines, and diesel after treatment

- Basic knowledge of gas engine

- Basic knowledge of Allison transmission’s

- Basic knowledge of air brake systems and air operated components

- Basic knowledge of heavy-duty truck suspensions

- Basic 12 volt electrical trouble shooting skills

- Must have own tools, specialty tools will be provided

- Knowledge of Cummins Insite or equivalent i.e. JPro, Cat ET, Detroit ect.

- Knowledge of preventative maintenance

- Ability to obtain Class B CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements (at SCSD#1 expense)

- Weekend on-call rotation (Usually once a month)

- Basic computer skills (further training on systems used will be provided)

- Ability to work as a team member

- Promotes high standards of safety and good housekeeping in all work areas

- Problem solving skills

- Communication skills

- Able to work with last minute schedule/duty change

Other Functions:

- Drive school bus routes as required

- Perform minor maintenance and repair to Transportation building and yard

- Respond to downed school buses during morning and afternoon routes

- Assist with after hour call-outs due to emergency situations
